Covid-19: I treated myself with hydroxychloroquine – Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe, former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Public Affairs has revealed that “hydroxychloroquine” was amongst the medications he used to recover from coronavirus.

Okupe and his wife, Aduralere, were recently discharged after spending about two weeks in a COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre in Sagamu, Ogun State.

“On the 23rd of April, my wife, Aduralere, and I tested positive for COVID-19. To the Glory of God, we were discharged this morning after obtaining two negative reports. I thank Almighty God for His Mercies,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

He would later reveal his medications on Wednesday night, adding that there has not been a consensus yet amongst scientists on a particular treatment method for the lethal virus.

My medications for COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine 400mg two times daily for two days, then 400mg daily for three days. Azithromycin 500mg fly Zinc Sulphate 100mg daily. VitzC 1200mg daily. I also supported with a mixture of ginger, garlic, turmeric and lemon. In Kaduna they added Dongoyaro leaves.

“There is no global consensus among scientists or medical experts on any one treatment regime. No credible scientific research document is presently available or acceptable for treatment of COVID-19. The key factor is the immune status of patients. Boost your immunity with known supplements.

“If you must take hydroxychloroquine, please to speak to your doctor to confirm if you have any cardiac ARRHYTHMIAS. If you do, you need close monitoring before embarking on the use of these drugs. 90 to 95% of infected patients will go through, even without hospitalization. 90% of young people will survive attack,” he tweeted.

Residents of Ogidi ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara have called on the state government to rescue them from perennial darkness occasioned by a faulty transformer servicing three communities in the area. Kaduna records two more deaths from coronavirus

The Kaduna State Government says it has recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths. Governor Nasir El-Rufai  stated this in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, adding that the two latest fatalities included a senior citizen from Makarfi and a lady from Zaria. In the tweet, released at 11.04 p.m. on Saturday, the governor revealed that two more persons had tested positive in the state, bringing the active COVID-19 cases to 87. He said the two new cases were a male from Igabi and a female from Chikun Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. The state recorded its first reported COVID-19 related deaths on May 2, when a patient, a retired civil servant, who reportedly concealed his travel history to Kano, died before the result of his test was out. Zamfara police partner ex-bandits, rescue 12 kidnap victims – Official

The police command in Zamfara has rescued 12 kidnap victims through the collaboration of repentant bandits in the state. This was contained in a statement signed by Shehu Mohammed, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state and made available to newsmen in Gusau on Thursday. Mr Mohammed said that the victims who were kidnapped from Farar Kasa and Sabon Birni villages, were rescued two weeks after with the assistance of the repentant bandits. According to him, the repentant bandits assisted the police in trailing the abductors to their hideouts. He said that the Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, while handing over the victims to the Zamfara State Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, commended the repentant bandits for keeping to their promise in supporting  Governor Bello Matawalle ’s peace and reconciliation initiative.
